Top pic was 3 days before my knee surgery. I had about a week (I originally put 3, but I honestly can’t remember…) I was allowed to walk on my busted leg before surgery. This was after 4 or 5 months of bedrest and preceding many more months of bedrest. Second pic was me at my heaviest approximately one month after my surgery and maybe a month before I moved to L.A. I was a size 16 (pushing bigger). Once I moved to L.A. I slowly started to lose weight as I began rollerblading again (I couldn’t really run, I had several first attempts that kept falling through and couldn’t make it more than 5 minutes). I also began eating very healthy more often than not and hiking almost every weekend. So the weight loss has been steady but really slow. I was down to a larger 12. When I moved to NZ in the middle of winter I put on weight. I dove into eating fish and chips and the weather was too shit to feel like getting out and being active. In October I started working for the government and made a work friend with whom I started going to Bikram Hot Yoga. My boss was an avid runner and often left to go to the gym during work hours, he held it as a very important routine. I asked one day if he cared if I joined the gym next door and at lunch at my desk and took my lunch hour to go to the gym. After easing into a fairly steady routine for several months but not really seeing major results. I hired my friend Gillian’s trainer. Alice has kicked my ass in every way but made working out a healthy and fun routine. I’ve never felt better.  I look forward to running, swimming, cycling, or even just walking for miles. I just might even almost get my former athletic physique back… The bottom two photos were taken last week after my workout and run. The only alteration is exposure. I didn’t even fix the blur because I wanted them accurate. It’s been a long time since I didn’t feel like I needed to suck my stomach in for a photo. I can just stand tall! :D posted on 06.08.11
